Hi, I’m Victoria - Alcohol Recovery Coach, Parent, Nutritionist and Cancer Survivor.

As a Certified Alcohol Recovery Coach, it is my passion to help individuals seeking to change their relationship with alcohol.

A little about myself, I am an integrative nutritionist with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. I received my coaching certification from This Naked Mind Institute and became a Senior Level Alcohol Recovery Coach, after which I founded After the Crisis Coaching and hosted my own podcast.

I am currently the Head Coach with Alcohol Free Lifestyle and co-host a podcast with AFL founder James Swanwick.

Alcohol use disorder can affect anyone. It knows no boundaries and does not discriminate. As a young adult, I never thought I would have issues because I had observed heavy drinking in my family and thought I was familiar with what it looked like. When I was in my twenties, I was extremely health conscious. I was running a Pilates studio out of my home, creating nutritional programs for my clients, raising my children and managing a household. I could have a drink here and there without issue, and I never thought I would allow myself to physically hurt my body by misusing alcohol.

I thought I was bullet proof.

Then things began to change. In my thirties, I experienced a series of traumatic events, which included the passing of my mother and a divorce.

At the time, I did not recognize that I was actually suffering from panic attacks and depression. I felt like alcohol helped me relax and catch my breath. I began drinking more regularly. Over the years one glass at night turned into three. My drinking became more frequent and I started to intentionally take breaks from drinking to feel like I was maintaining control. Eventually, I found it harder to take breaks and with each return to drinking, I drank even more.

This pattern continued into my forties. I grew tired of the cycle of drinking and the negative impact it was having on my life, but I lacked the tools to gain control on my own. Then I received some shocking news….

I was diagnosed with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer.

My cancer diagnosis coincided with my desire to change my drinking habits. After rigorous cancer treatment, I learned that drinking greatly increased my chances of cancer recurrence and my oncologist advised me to abstain from drinking, I realized I needed to make a major change. Assuming an alcohol-free lifestyle shifted from a desire to a necessity.

I looked into different methods of alcohol recovery and found a science-based methodology based on neuroplasticity. This method uses the brain’s ability to change and respond differently to experiences and stimuli. Through this method I was able to train my brain to prefer healthy coping skills instead of using alcohol to simply numb my feelings. As I dug into my own feelings and recovery, the more I realized that there are many people just like myself that are struggling with drinking. I felt driven to share this methodology with others and that’s when my journey as an alcohol recovery coach began.

I discovered my passion for helping other people experience the benefits of living alcohol free.

In the years since I have stopped drinking, I have improved every relationship in my life, optimized my physical, emotional and mental health and gained confidence. I now have all the things that alcohol promised, but did not deliver.

In my coaching I have helped hundreds of people change their relationship with alcohol and have shared my story around the world.

More people than ever are secretly struggling with their drinking habits and it is my hope that by sharing my experience I can reduce the stigma associated with maladaptive drinking and inspire hope and change.
